Fighting For The Disability Benefits You Need And Deserve

New Data Shows The Number Of Individuals Awarded SSI Disability Benefits In January Was The Lowest In History

During the pandemic, the number of monthly SSI disability applications and new SSI disability benefit awardees has declined sharply. New data documents that the number of new SSI disability awards in January was the lowest on record, but it wasn’t because there were fewer people in need of SSI disability benefits.

New benefit awards for SSI disability are down nearly 30 percent during the pandemic, compared to the same period last year.  Since the SSI disability program began in 1974, many of those who are eligible have not gotten benefits. A 2015 study from the University of Michigan found that half of all people eligible for SSI are missing out. Often, this is because people are either unaware of the SSI disability program, or the SSI disability application process is too complicated. The Disability and Injury Law Offices of David R. Machek, Esq. is here to help you with your application for SSI and Social Security disability benefits.
